Governance

The Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees, under the leadership of Dr. Reuel Khoza is the ultimate governing body of the Buffelshoek Trust. The Trust is well-managed, with the Chair of the ExCo overseeing all of the administrative tasks associated with the daily operation. We are fortunate to have some international representation on the Board of Trustees who together with our local members, bring a diversity of perspectives and a wealth of experience to our organisation. With a Board comprising of leaders in their fields and the hands-on approach of our ExCo, with regard to the implementation and monitoring of each of our projects, effective management is achieved. The locally-based Trustees visit the sites as often as possible and our COO spends a large proportion of his time in the area, overseeing projects from inception through to completion. It is through these systems that the Trust is able to ensure efficient management of donor funds whilst upholding its responsibility to its beneficiaries.

The Executive Committee

The ExCo is responsible for the daily management of the Buffelshoek Trust and perform an important supporting and monitoring role in relation to the overall management of the organisation.

The ExCo is chaired by Trustee, Mr. Sidney Frankel and supported by our Community Liaison Officer; Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Campbell Scott and Project Director, Ms. Shehnaz Cassim.

Legal Status

The Buffelshoek Trust is a registered independent trust with
Registration No. IT 5294/01 and is sanctioned by the South African
Revenue Service as a Public Benefit Organisation in terms of
s30 of the Income Tax Act, P.B.O. Ref. No. 18/11/13/765. It is further registered as a Non-Profit Organisation with NPO Registration No. 016-222 NPO.

BEE Status:

The Buffelshoek Trust is registered with the DTI as a level four contributor.
